About Mold Pros Phoenix

Mold Pros Phoenix is an independent Phoenix mold information resource. We publish original, Phoenix-specific research on how and when Valley homes actually get mold — built on public federal data and grounded in CDC and EPA guidance — and we help homeowners who are dealing with mold get a fast, free, no-obligation quote.

A wide view of the Phoenix valley with desert mountains behind neighborhoods of tile-roof homes — the metro Mold Pros Phoenix serves.
We focus only on the Phoenix metro — from 1950s Arcadia slab homes to new builds in Gilbert.

Why we started this

If you've looked into mold in Phoenix, you've probably run into two unhelpful answers. One says, "It's a dry climate, you're fine" — which is wrong, and it's why so many Phoenix leaks turn into hidden mold. The other leans on "toxic black mold" scare tactics to upsell a panicked homeowner — which is also wrong, and it's expensive.

The truth sits in between, and it's local. Phoenix homes really do get mold — from AC condensate, slab leaks, monsoon roof leaks, and swamp coolers — but it's a manageable moisture problem, not a horror story. We built this site to say that clearly, back it with data, and help homeowners act on it.

What we do

Two things:

  • Original, Phoenix-specific research and free guides — what mold costs here, when desert homes actually get mold, how to tell black mold from harmless efflorescence, and what's actually worth doing about it. It's built on public federal data and sourced so you can check the work.
  • Help getting it handled — if you're dealing with mold and want it dealt with, fill out a short form for a fast, free, no-obligation quote.

The information is free to read, share, and cite. Getting a quote is free too, with no obligation and no pressure.

What we promise homeowners

  • Straight answers, not scare tactics. We'll tell you when something is minor and DIY-able.
  • Honest pricing. We publish real Phoenix cost ranges so you're not negotiating blind.
  • Your information stays private. We use it to get you a quote and help with your mold problem — not to sell to a wall of spam.
  • Local knowledge. We focus only on the Phoenix metro, so the advice fits your home — whether it's a 1950s Arcadia slab house or a new build in Gilbert.

Who runs this

Nik Crawley, Editor and Researcher at Mold Pros Phoenix

Nik Crawley

Editor & Researcher

Mold Pros Phoenix is researched and edited by Nik Crawley, Editor & Researcher. He came to mold the hard way, not through a trade: he got sick from mold in his own homes, in more than one state, and it took far too long to figure out why.

Over several years and several places he lived — in California, Oregon, Tennessee, and Utah — Nik dealt with respiratory problems he eventually traced back to mold in the buildings around him. He became mold-sensitive; people in his family were affected too. The thing that reliably helped was getting away from the mold and fixing the moisture feeding it. That's the reason this site exists: most mold information falls into one of two camps — "it's a dry climate, you're fine," or "toxic black mold, buy now" — and both of them cost real people real money and real health. So we built the clear, sourced, Phoenix-specific resource we wish we'd had.

To be straight about it: Nik is not a doctor, an industrial hygienist, or a licensed remediation contractor, and he isn't a Phoenix local — he's a researcher who got obsessed with getting this right. What he brings is a genuine, lived reason to care and a habit of chasing every claim back to its source. When a question is medical, the honest answer is "see your doctor"; when it's about removing mold, it's "get a licensed local pro." This site is for the part in between — understanding what you're actually dealing with.

How we research these guides

  • Public, primary sources — CDC, EPA, NOAA/NWS, FEMA, and Arizona public records, cited inline so you can check the work.
  • Every load-bearing number is sourced — no invented figures, no made-up surveys.
  • An adversarial review before anything publishes — each guide is run through a red-team that tries to break it on facts, citations, and honesty.
  • No fabricated trust signals — no fake reviews, invented credentials, or stock-photo "team." If it's here, it's real and sourced.

A note on health

Mold is a health topic, so we keep our information grounded in guidance from the CDC and the EPA, and we leave the actual removal to qualified local professionals. If you have specific health concerns, talk to your doctor — and get the moisture fixed.
